The best view in Rome and it costs nothing. The hill is outside the seven, so what you get is the city laid out flat in front of you with the domes standing up out of it — pick out the Pantheon, the Vittoriano, St Peter’s off to the left. A cannon is fired from the terrace below at noon every day, which everyone forgets about until it goes off. Walk up from Trastevere past the Fontana dell’Acqua Paola and come at the end of the afternoon, when the light turns the whole thing orange.
